Mark joined the CLR in 2003.  His research interests include: microbial ecology, early ecosystem succession and incipient soil development, biogeochemical cycling (of nutrients and pollutants) in terrestrial ecosystems, restoration ecology and the function of mycorrhizas in ecosystems. He has wide experience with different ecosystems, having worked in tropical, mediterranean, temperate and polar regions.

Natasha completed a PhD in Environmental Microbiology and subsequently undertook postdoctoral research into molecular and biogeochemical aspects of methanogenesis at Cardiff University, Wales.  In September 2004, Natasha joined the CLR in a research position investigating the re-establishment of soil microbial communities and soil processes in forest rehabilitation post-bauxite mining.

Suman completed his PhD at UWA. His expertise is in land rehabilitation, particularly with respect to nutrient cycling and bioremediation.  He has been involved with consultancy work for various mining companies.  Suman joined the CLR in 2005 and is jointly supervising one honours and two Masters Students in Land Rehabilitation.

Bob has been at UWA since 1969 and has an international reputation for his work in mineralogy and geochemistry of soils and sediments; properties of fertilisers; soil mapping and mine rehabilitation.

Paul has a chemistry PhD from UNSW and 16 years of professional experience as an organic analyst.  He has had previous positions with the CRC Water Quality and Treatment, Geoscience Australia in Canberra, CSIRO Petroleum in Sydney and post-doctoring at Pennsylvania University (US) and Warwick University (UK).

Tim joined the CLR in November 2006 as part of a research project investigating the impact of soil fertility on plant biodiversity in jarrah forest rehabilitation.  Tim has a degree in Applied Science (Environmental Management).  Prior to joining CLR Tim was of part of Alcoa’s Rehabilitation Research Group where he conducted botanical monitoring and research.

Daniel
currently leads the Soil Biology Group and started work at UWA in 1999 after spending four years conducting agricultural research in the UK.  Dan’s current research activities address a range of issues relating to the development of sustainable management practices for agricultural, natural and mine-site rehabilitated systems.

Evonne joined the CLR in February 2006 as a Technical Assistant.  She has an Environmental Science degree from Murdoch University and a postgraduate diploma in Soil Science from UWA.  She has worked in the labs and the office at Soil Science since 1992, stopping for a few years in between to have two children.

Trudy completed an Environmental Science degree with majors in land and water management and zoology.  She completed her honours in zoology before going on to do further studies in the area of applied entomology. Trudy joined the CLR in June 2005 and is currently assisting on a range of projects to do with mine site rehabilitation.
